'Lovers quarrel' ends in fatal shooting

A lovers’ quarrel may be the cause of an argument that ended in a woman being shot and killed at her home in Umbilo‚ Durban‚ on Monday night.

Police spokesman Colonel Thembeka Mbhele said that a 48-year-old man had arrived at his girlfriend’s house in the early evening. They had an argument and the suspect shot at the deceased several times on her body‚ she said.

Mbhele said that the woman succumbed to her injuries at the crime scene.

“The suspect then fled the area and was later arrested after the police were hunting for him‚” she added.

He is expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
