Armed gang hits Durban shopping centre

A gang of armed men made off with bundles of clothing in a blitz robbery at the Musgrave Centre in Durban on Tuesday.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane said four men had – all armed – had forced open the doors of a clothing retailer.

“Clothing such as jeans‚ t-shirts and other items were taken. A security guard who witnessed the incident attempted to chase the suspects and two shots were fired in his direction‚” he said.

Zwane said that the guard managed to avoid being shot.

The suspects fled in a car. Charges‚ including attempted murder‚ are being investigated.
