Three men accused of robbing a woman inside a taxi appeared briefly in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

Thato Sekhuthe‚ 20‚ Tebogo Twala‚ and Joel Mokoena‚ 35‚ stand accused of robbery with aggravating circumstance.

They allegedly robbed a woman who had boarded a grey Toyota Quantum last month. The case was postponed to next month for an identity parade.

The case came a day after three other men appeared in the Newlands Magistrate’s Court for allegedly robbing a woman in a taxi.

Gerald Vusi Hlaswayo‚ 41‚ General Siphiwe Dlamini‚ 31‚ and Siphiwe Khanje‚ 21‚ stand accused of robbery kidnaping and sexual assault.

Their case was also postponed to next month for an identification parade.

Taxi rapes and robberies came under the spot light when women spoke out about the crimes last week.

They shared stories of how they were either raped or robbed after boarding a white and grey taxi.

The incidents happened in Johannesburg‚ Roodepoort‚ Soweto and Krugersdorp.

Gauteng community safety MEC Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane said a link between the two cases had not yet been established‚ although the modus operandi in both cases was the same.
