Mthethwa beat Kumalo‚ a sex worker‚ to death in Woodstock in 2013. She died of cardiac arrest after suffering from liver injury from blunt force trauma.

TimesLIVE has previously reported that the incident was captured on CCTV and Mthethwa's Porsche was identified on the scene.

  • No bail for murderer of sex workerOn Friday, Zwelethu Mthethwa, the murderer of sex worker Nokuphila Kumalo, was denied bail in the Western Cape High Court.

According to Kumalo's friend‚ Gulam Petersen‚ she was a ''very down-to-earth girl'' who worked to support her son and her family.

Lesego Tlhwale‚ from the Sex Workers Education and Advocacy Task Force (Sweat)‚ has been at court since the start of the proceedings.

  • Sex worker's mugshot replaces killer's artworkThe only known photograph of Nokuphila Kumalo is a police mugshot taken soon after she was arrested for soliciting.

"We are disappointed about the delay … we need closure and hope the judge doesn’t allow any more postponements‚'' said Tlhwale.
