Taxi driver killed in suspected hit

A driver of a Randburg Taxi Association patrol car was gunned down and killed in Braamfontein on Monday‚ police said.

His two colleagues were also shot and rushed to hospital.

“On Monday afternoon‚ a shooting occurred in Braamfontein‚ Johannesburg‚ where a man and his colleagues were shot. The driver was certified dead on the scene‚ while the two were admitted to hospital and are in a stable state‚” said Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo‚ Hillbrow police spokesperson.

According to Zodo‚ the police suspect that the shooting is related to taxi violence.

“It was alleged that a car was following the car of the victims until it pulled over and shots were fired at them‚” Zondo said.
