Members of the South African Students Congress occupy the Nelson Mandela Bridge in the call for men to keep their hands off of women's bodies.

"This is really to disrupt the system in a sense that rape culture and gender-based violence has become the norm. We're not shocked when we hear about it in the media ... but it's not normal and we need to show society that it's not normal," says Sasco's Fasiha Hassan said.

"Nelson Mandela Bridge is a hotspot for crime. Our students, on a daily (basis), are mugged. Their laptops are stolen, their phones are stolen, and it has an academic implication," Hassan said.
