Mpumalanga magistrate's warning came as he denied another suspected serial rapist bail in the same court on Thursday afternoon.

“The community complained to the court about a number of cases that took place in a same manner in Matsulu. It is believed that the suspect rapes and leaves the victims near a bush or river naked. These cases could not be linked to anyone as there was no suspect,” said Masango.

Masango however said it would be disappointing if he granted the accused bail.

“I would be disappointing this community who have an interest in this case. This is a very strong case. In this case the victim didn’t die but she was able to point out the accused and he is also facing various charges,” he added.

She was found naked and confused in a bush near Skukuza.

Community members later hunted down the suspect and handed him to the police.

He is now facing charges of kidnapping, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and attempted murder, to which he has not been asked to plead.

He was remanded in custody and the case was postponed to May 5. - African Eye News Service
