Fifa president Joseph Blatter joined the on- going love-hate debate over the noise-making vuvuzelas on Monday, saying the plastic trumpets should not be banned.

"To answer all your messages (regarding) the vuvuzelas. I have always said that Africa has a different rhythm, a different sound," Blatter said through his twitter feed SeppBlatter.

"I dont see banning the music traditions of fans in their own country. Would you want to see a ban on the fan traditions in your country?"

The vuvuzelas have been the hottest subject of debate off the pitch at the 2010 World Cup. Many teams and fans have complained about the volume of the annoying noise-makers while local fans continue to passionately blow into their vuvuzelas.
