Alfa Romeo Giulietta gets a makeover
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta has been given a facelift for 2016 and is heading to dealerships this spring. The hatchback is set to land in a variety of trim levels and with several engine options, priced from R376,686.75 for the gas model and R 428,787.26 for the diesel.
In many ways, the changes made to this revamped Giulietta bring the hatchback closer to the Giulia sedan, both in terms of appearance and the car's position in Alfa Romeo's range. Both models share several similarities in exterior design, such as the honeycomb grilles and the front bumper. New alloy wheels and oblique exhaust tips shape the Giulietta's new look, which also brings a slight redesign to the brand badge.
In its sporty version ("Veloce"), the new Giulietta comes with sports bumpers and a dark chrome finish on the wing mirror covers, door handles and grille rims. On the inside, it gets leather and Alcantara sports seats, matched with a leather steering wheel and a carbon-effect dashboard surround and door panels.
The 2016 Giulietta comes with a choice of four turbo gasoline engines (from 120 to 240hp) and four diesel engines (from 120 to 175ch). The new 120hp 1.6 JTDm diesel engine, the most cost-effective option, is announced with CO2 emissions of 99g/km and mileage of 74.3 MPG (3.8 l/100 km).
The updated Giulietta is a connected car thanks to its Uconnect onboard touchscreen infotainment system, built into the central dashboard. This features Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free smartphone use (calls, SMS, streaming, radio, etc.). Plus, some versions of the hatchback feature the Alfa Performance application for controlling the main parameters of the car and measuring performance in real time.
The Giulietta comes in five trim levels: standard, Super, Lusso, Veloce and Business. Other customization options include 11 body colors and a selection of wheel rims.
