The report last week about Madiba's cattle starving should disgust everyone.

This situation is similar to the disaster on Thandi Modise's farm.

Mandla Mandela was quoted saying: "Around this time we lose a lot of cattle and sheep due to drought."

If a white farmer had been in the firing line, we would probably have the president castigating the whipping boy of the ANC. No doubt the ANC rent-a-crowd would have been videoed for South Africa's news and information filter (SABC).

From provincial officials we have euphemisms to hide the incompetence and uncaring behaviour. Unlike the usual twaddle, where ignorance is shown by pulling the race card and blaming "colonialists", this is rooted in Africa.

How sad. A mansion in the background and a trust R127-million strong. Please tell the people of South Africa and the neighbours in Qunu, whose animals are also starving, why does the state vet have to go to the rescue, free, and donate 60 bales of feed?
