Tsvangirai and Mugabe scheduled to meet

Zimbabwe's leaders were set to meet in their first direct talks since Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai suspended power-sharing ties with President Robert Mugabe 10 days ago, a spokesman said.

"The principals, comprising the Prime Minister Tsvangirai, President Mugabe and Deputy Prime Minister (Arthur) Mutambara are set to meet this afternoon at 4:00 pm ," Tsvangirai's spokesman James Maridadi told AFP.

"This is not a regular meeting. The meeting will discuss the issue of disengagement and the other outstanding issues related to the Global Political Agreement" which underpins the fragile, eight-month unity government.

Tvangirai shelved ties with Mugabe's "dishonest and unreliable" camp on October 16, saying he will only resume cooperation once all outstanding issues are resolved, including wrangles over key posts and a crackdown on his supporters.

The meeting comes as Tsvangirai's joint home affairs minister Giles Mutseyeka is set to meet senior police officials to discuss a raid on a house belonging to his Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) at the weekend.

Armed police raided a house belonging to the party on Saturday, claiming they were searching for weapons.

"I will be meeting the officers later today to discuss the raid which happened over the weekend," said Mutseyekwa, who leads the portfolio which oversees the police with Kembo Mohadi from Mugabe's ZANU-PF.

Tsvangirai and Mugabe agreed to form a unity government in Feburary after disputed polls the previous year, which saw the 85-year-old handed victory in a one-man presidential run-off in June.

According to reports from those actually in Zimbabwe, and without a political bias in trying to cover up for their ":Liberation Hero's" corruption and their ex president's racism and stupidity....

ZANU are gearing up for some sort of violence with the Youth Militia being deployed in certain areas, and the arrest of NGO charity executives:

http://www.zimbabwemetro.com/news/zimbabwe-ngo%e2%80%99s-%e2%80%93-%e2%80%9cbrace-for-the-worst%e2%80%a6%e2%80%9d/

Lets see how wmany more Black African peasants have to die berfore the Times Editor starts publishing stories criticising the SADC, AU and ANC handling of the matter, calls for Mugabe to be prosecuted as well as other ZANU leaders and suggest as much of an "African" solution as suspending Zim from SADC.

Like ECOWAS just did to Niger:

hoodoo - I think you are reading the signs all wrong.

Ever since the MDC announced the disengagement - Mugabe has been trying frantically to arrange a meeting - while shouting and screaming that he would not give in. The initiative for the meeting came from three sources:=

* The SADC insists on a meeting and they want a progress report by Thursday when their delegation meets in harare with the Parties;

* Mutrambara and Ncube pleaded for a meeting last week already.

* Mugabe sent some really frantic messages to try and arrange a meeting with Tsvangirai.

The three have to come up with some real progress. There are at least 34 deliverables required in terms of the GPA and the January 2009 meeting of the SADC. Of these only four has been implemented. Some agreements ave been reached between the partners - but in the end Mugabe rneged on undertakings given and progress stopped.

Mugabe is the main hindrance in implementation - about 95% of all breaches of the above agreements were the result of ZANU-PF.

They refuse to implement most conditions and the situation is that in the present circumstances ZANU=PF has shot themselves in the foot.

They would have to give in on most issues and I think the one issue that may be negotiatiable is the Tomana appoitnment. With Chinamasa as Minister of Justice and Tomana as AG - the situation is in fact critical.

Ultimately I think the MDC cn live with Gono - his wings is to be clipped drastically by new legislation - but Tomana represents a serious threat to the MDC.

I think what will happen is that the appointment of Tomana will be nullfieied and a new AG appointed - this time a real independent-minded legal professional and not a stool pigeon of Mugabe.

For the rest I think there will be some real progress in GPA implementation and that Mugabe would be the one to become more responsive.

By the way the West and the US said they would lift sanctions if all the conditions of the GPA and the January 2009 agreeemnnt are being implemented.

Mugabe can shout about sanctions till he is blue in teh face - but he will get nothing in return. Implement the full GPA and the targetted measures will be lifted and Mugabe will be allowed to get to the billions in foreign banks at present frozen.

His personal fortune is the issue as to sanctions - not the public interest.

Lets wait and see what happens. Incidentally the alst meeting between Mugabe and Tsvangirai lasted ten minutes and tsvangirai left the meeting fuming. You must appreciate that the MDC is demnding protection and change and they are not getting it. Tsvngirai knows the feeling on the ground and that would determine his actions.

mbogwam - please indicate when Mugabe won the election as President? He lost in March 2008 and the SADC Observer mission said the June run-off was a sham and not recognized as a real election.

Your hero is President because of the GPA - and nothing else. If he continues to breach the GPA Conditions and the GNU falls apart - your hero will have to flee Zimbabwe and go and live of his stolen loot in Malaysia. He won't be recgonized as President - expect by the pariah leaders in the world

Crook he was and crooked he will be.

News supplied by the enemy news agency is always to push their criminal agenda in Africa.

It is important for the African people worldwide to understand that Tsangirai has sold it shoul to the people that view our race as dirt so that he can become president.

Tsangirai is a no body that is promoted by the pink "white" owned news agency in order for them to have him as the puppet president of Zimbabwe and effectively reversing the gains of our freedom in Zimbabwe.

every revolutionary African, conscience Africa, every African that care about saving our race from certain death, should oppose any leader that has link with the credo of racism and terror against the African people from becoming president.

What is happening in Zimbabwe is a real struggle between the forces of evil (also known as the EU/USA) and the forces of justice ( also known as the African people)

the enemy as supremacy over the continent when it comes to the information sector and it is imperative that we understand that the Europeans are the cause of the deep poverty millions of Africans are in and they have turn Africa into their zoo where they come and do their sex tourism and visit Africa as if we were zoo animals.

It is our time to stop that Europe madness; AFP is a Europeans news agency serving Europe criminal interest in Africa.
It is responsible with it fellow Europeans news agencies for the slave mentality millions of Africans have.
If you view these culturally oppressive and racist Europe as our friend then you I diagnose you with a disease called slave mentality. A disease Europeans government created and infected the African people with in order to keep looting Africa and mass murdering us using poverty unchallenged.

You have been informed to take a stand against the evil Europeans supremacists governments that have turn Africa into it dustbin and experiment zone.
