Mozambique will host a regional summit on Zimbabwe on Thursday in hopes of breaking a deadlock that threatens Harare's fragile unity government, the foreign ministry spokeswoman said.

The three-member security organ of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), which brokered Zimbabwe's unity deal, will hold the summit in the Mozambican capital Maputo, Yunassy Muchanga told AFP.

"They have agreed to hold a meeting here on Thursday. But we don't know any more details yet," she said.

Mozambique currently heads SADC's security organ, which sent a delegation to Harare last week to mediate between veteran President Robert Mugabe and Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, the former opposition leader who joined the government in February.

Swaziland and Zambia are also members of the Troika, and Muchanga said other countries were unlikely to take part in the talks.

Tsvangirai suspended cooperation with Mugabe's party more than two weeks ago, threatening the fragile pact that had been hailed as an end to last year's deadly electoral violence.

Joseph Kabila, president of the Democratic Republic of Congo who currently heads SADC, was in Harare on Monday for talks with both leaders.

Tsvangirai's spokesman James Maridadi told AFP that the premier would attend the Maputo talks.

"Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai will be attending the conference in Maputo on Thursday to discuss the powersharing agreement," he told AFP.

What is going on here? The investigation revealed as follows:-

* That Mugabe does not recognize the January 2009 comunique of the SADC and would not negotiate any issues mentioned in teh communique.

* That Mugabe does not want to see even the issues dealt with in the GPA being implemented - such as the various Commisions to be set up.

It seems that the SADC representatives feel that issues are not addressed by the GNU - because Mugabe is jeopardizing progress.

Wht is the summit going to achieve? It is not at all clear - since one of the members is not exactly a paragon of democracy himself.

Not much hope from this quarter it seems.

Are whites Africans – is definitely one of those green bombers – the ZANU PF trained thugs. What is encouraging is the desperation that sounds from his/her posting; it means things are not going ZANU PF way. When the Ndebele’s refused to vote ZANU PF they were massacred and called foreigners in their own land and we taunted and told to go back to KZN. When the urbanites decided to turn their backs on a corrupt ZANU PF government their dwellings were demolished in some forced removal. When ZANU PF lost the referendum to change the constitution their wrath as turned on to the commercial farmers. Last year when the rural population in Mashonaland for the first time voted against ZANU PF they were butchered mercilessly. Now that SADC states are turning the heat on these thugs they now start calling them poodles. When are these thugs ever going to grow up? ZANU PF is bunch of bitter enders who have no where to run anymore and they now want to take everybody down with them to hell. If sanity prevails over greed the Kimberly Process meeting taking place in Swakopmund, Namibia this week should suspend Zimbabwe’s blood diamonds and that could be the final nail in the coffin of ZANU PF.
