"The National Elections Commission announces that citizen Armando Emilio Guebuza has been re-elected president of the republic of Mozambique for a period of five years," the commission's chief Joao Leopoldo da Costa told reporters.

In the parliamentary race, Guebuza's Frelimo increased its majority from 160 seats to 191 seats in the 250-member legislature.

The race for second place -- closely watched in the wake of a recent opposition split -- was won by long-time opposition leader Afonso Dhlakama, leader of the former rebel movement Renamo, who took 16.5 percent of the vote.

Daviz Simango, founder of the breakaway Democratic Movement of Mozambique (MDM), was in third place with 8.6 percent. The new party took only eight seats in parliament, against 51 for Renamo.

The October 28 vote was Mozambique's fourth national poll since a 16-year civil war between Renamo and the Frelimo government ended in the establishment of multi-party democracy in 1994.

Not really surprising when one opposition party (the MDM) was barred from having candidates in 9 out of thirteen voting districts.

We have a March where we will be supporting proudly South African Products. Malema has been invited. I hope he does pich up

Animal Farm-1209 congratulates Frelimo for securing 75% of the votes; well done party of the liberation. Animal Farm-1209 would like to send a special message to the new MDM party, you have done well being a new kid on the block.

Animal Farm-1209 could not help but notice that this MDM party after being cheated out of 9 in a total of 13 constituencies has been robbed blind again, it’s difficult to comprehend that Renamo’s 16.5% translates to 51 seats yet MDM with 8.6% translates into 8 seats.

It’s only at Animal Farm-1209 that we can prove without cheating that 1 = 2, if MDM’s 8% = 8 seats then no dawt Renamo’s 16.5% must be = 16 seats.

If MOZ parliament has 250 seats then:
Frelimo with 75% = 188
Renamo with 16.5% = 42 seats
MDM with 8% = 20 seats

What Animal Farm-1209 reads from the figures is that Election Commission has stolen 12 seats from MDM and gave them to Frelimo and Renamo, 3 and 9 seats respectively.

Animal Farm-1209 is making a call to MDM to go back to and claim their 12 seats from Frelimo and Renamo.

Animal Farm-1209 is for a SADC that reflects the very will of the people!!
