The followers of the Shia sect of Islam ( Iraq and Iran) are more liberal in their attitude to women than the Sunnis ( e.g. Saudi Arabia). They even have photos of the Prophet Mohammed which is banned and forbidden in Sunni domianted countries like Pakistan, Saudi Arabia or Morocco.etc.
Islam was imposed on the people of Persia ( Iran) in the 8th century introduced by the invading Arab armies.in the 8th century ( See: Bertrand Russell: History of Western Philosophy p.341).
