Judge Joop Labuschagne, who returned from retirement to preside over the matter, will hand down judgment next Wednesday.

Moodley returned to court after being sentenced to life for the murder of Bond University student Leigh Matthews in July 2004.

He was sentenced to an additional 15 years for her kidnapping and 10 years for extortion.

Moodley's counsel advocate Charles Thomson argued that his client's life sentence for murder was harsh because the crime was not proved to have been premeditated.

He said 15 years would have been suitable.

However, the State produced statements made by Moodley that he had planned a crime.

Visibly hurt, Matthews' mother Sharon, who attended the hearing, silently sobbed as details of how her daughter was murdered were restated in court.

Moodley also attributed the harsh sentence to the media attention that the case received.

What's NEW in this ANC OFFICIALLY LEGISLATED Most Racist nation on Earth Today?

Can this 'muddlin moodly be allowed out possibly in an equally luxurious motorised deathbed as Shabby was, so as to hit on his next victim?

OF COURSE, and be given trips in the mile high club superjet on top of it all too.

How can a murder sentence be harsh? 15 years for taking an innocent life, k@k. The judge should keep the sentence and add no chance of parole, ever. When you go doing that kind of crime expect media attention, in a BIG way.

When it comes to this piece of sh*it words fail me.

It is a great pity that he cannot sit in the death cell waiting his turn, just to be able to get a feeling of what that poor girl had to go thru.

He killed her - the end. He took her illegally, held her captive, then killed her. At what stage was she in the freezer?

Back to the death cell, listening to the other crying and praying, knowing death is coming. Listening to the sounds from the gallows, the trapdoors slamming open. The smell of the rope as it goes around his neck and eventually the tightening of the noose as the warden pulls it tight....

Got to agree Skidrow, but our repulsive liberal justice system is an aid to crime as they hand out candy to violent criminals.

Leniency - judgment reserved for a no brainer; stick the lawyer in jail as well for wasting taxpayers money by asking for leniency when his client has been judged too leniently for murder anyway.

I guess some of you have amnesure or selective memory, just yesterday we blindly forgave whites for taking innocent souls, then this is possible.

A boy has seen his mistake and he is apologetic..... pity cant bring life back... but we can give him another chance to make something of himself..

Moodley is not okay up there in his head, he cannot be realized. He needs to spend the rest of his life behind bars. I feel sorry for him though an Indian in a maximum prison, he will be okay though, he might die sooner then we think.

This is the problem with no Death Penalty: the little bastard now gets clever and starts chewing away at the system. The parents have to constantly be on the watch to protest any challenge he makes on his sentence; they will never experience any lessening in their pain because this murderer will keep up with his nonsense.

As AntonS says above, stick the lawye in jail as well - the case is over and should be left alone. There are plenty of good people in SA who are down and out; who haven't resorted to crime - rather give them a chance at making it in this difficult world.

Standwa, that's just the whole point. This little rat has shown no remorse whatsoever - he has justified the killing to himself (to prevent ID). He is a psychopath and will more than likely do the same thing again.
