The home affairs department said Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma sent a delegation to De Doorns in the Western Cape to help displaced immigrants who had lost their papers during protests this week.

This comes after more than 3 000 people, mostly Zimbabweans, evacuated shacks in De Doorns when locals claimed they were robbing them of jobs on farms in the area.

The home affairs team, led by deputy director-general Jackie Mckay, was part of broader government intervention in the area, a statement read.

There was a "specific mandate to assess and assist those immigrants who lost their basic documentation during the protests this week".

The department said it would ensure any lost documents were replaced.

Meanwhile, the police said on Friday that twenty-two people were arrested on Thursday night for their alleged involvement in the protests.

Another four people were arrested for allegedly stealing from the refugees' shacks, station commissioner Superintendent Desmond van der Westhuizen said.

Wouldn't it be nice if Horror Affairs was this concerned about our own citizens?

Exactly RSA citizens have to hang themselves to get an id so they can be issued with death certificates.

ANC knows full well the wrath of the Botoxed one so home affairs had better get cracking.

Our people want less unskilled foreigners in our country and not more. Is the Minister of Home Affairs going to provide jobs for all our unemployed people.

Our people are NOT lazy but dont have the opportunities for jobs because millions of foreigners are flooding the market.
Our government should know that CHARITY starts at HOME and not at Home Affairs.
