TELEVISION presenter Vuyo Mbuli is patching things up at home after being let off the hook on an assault charge, allegedly relating to an extra-marital affair.

The Morning Live anchor yesterday handed himself over to police in Mondeor, southern Johannesburg, and was arrested on an allegation that he had assaulted Pat Legwabe.

Legwabe claimed that, after he discovered Mbuli dressing on Monday night in the room of his fiancee, Thabisa Nyamakazi, Mbuli threw a vase at him.

Legwabe said Mbuli then fled.

Inspector Nokulunga Mahonga, of the Mondeor police, said Mbuli was taken to the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court yesterday.

"The prosecutor said he did not want to proceed because there was no evidence," Mbuli told The Times.

"My priority now is my wife and my kids; that is the single most important thing for me."

Mbuli said the most unpleasant part of the incident was having his family embroiled in controversy.

Mbuli and his wife, Savita, who runs a PR company, have been married for almost a decade.

The family lives in Houghton, northern Johannesburg.
