Inspector Gerda Swart said six armed men, posing as egg buyers, entered the farm at 5pm on Tuesday. "Two of the men pulled put firearms, ordered the workers to move one side and tied them with a masking tape," said Swart.
"The group then loaded computer equipment into a vehicle," she said.
However, a staff member called the police. They arrived on the scene shortly afterwards and a shoot-out ensued.
The men set the store alight before making their getaway. Swart said four of the men were arrested. Another two were still at large. She said police recovered an unlicensed 9mm pistol with 12 rounds of ammunition and a vehicle.
