Mandoza makes a comeback
Veteran kwaito musician Mandoza is making a comeback: he has completed recording a new album and his new 13-episode reality TV show premieres on e.tv next month .
The Times was invited to an exclusive screening of the first two episodes, and compiled a list of six lessons learned.
You are not a legend if you don't need a bodyguard: He wasn't cutting it, but now, on his way to a gig, he's flanked by his bodyguard and his manager, Curwyn Eaton.
He is reunited with Gabi le Roux: Together they produced Mandoza's crossover smash hit Nkalakatha. They had not collaborated in more than five years.
The new album will be eclectic: Mandoza worked with Afrikaans electro band Die Heuwels Fantasties, Hydro and kwaito veteran Mandla Spikiri.
He's not worried about street cred: While in Cape Town he went shark-cage diving.
Has he gone soft? He says: "I've found my new purpose in my music."
He is no Michael Schumacher: It's unlikely he will refer back to his two car crashes a few years ago.
