An Oscar-winning Hollywood producer reportedly attacked Angelina Jolie as a "spoiled brat with a rampaging ego" in leaked e-mails.

Scott Rudin, who produced films including The Social Network, Moneyball, and The Queen, made the comments in a series of angry exchanges with Amy Pascal, joint chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment.

The studio has been targeted by Guardians of the Peace, a hacking group with suspected links to North Korea, which has obtained and leaked vast amounts of information from Sony's computers.

According to the messages, Rudin and Pascal began swearing at each other because Jolie wanted director David Fincher to oversee her planned remake of Cleopatra instead of a Steve Jobs biopic written by Aaron Sorkin.

Rudin wrote to Pascal: "There is no movie of Cleopatra to be made (and how that is a bad thing given the insanity and rampaging spoiled ego of this woman and the cost of the movie is beyond me).

He added that he was "not destroying my career over a minimally talented spoiled brat".

Variety, the film industry magazine, called the e-mails "ugly", but did not question their authenticity.
