It is believed the board of Cricket SA pressured the Proteas into fielding four players of colour in the semi-final against New Zealand. CSA chief executive Haroon Lorg at has denied the claim, but then what was the reason for selecting the injured Vernon Philander over the in-form Kyle Abbott in a critical match?If, indeed, satisfying racial quotas was placed above merit, then the consequence was failure.
