The boss of a technology start-up in the US shocked his employees by announcing he was taking a 90% pay cut to raise the salaries of the lowest-paid staff. Dan Price, founder and CEO of Seattle's Gravity Payments, introduced a new minimum wage of $70000 (R844291) and told staff he would be cutting his $1-million salary to $70000 too.
