Andrea Burgener's "Bread and Butter" column ("Invisibility", 17 June 2015) refers. I applaud her for making visible a small part of the dark underbelly of the food chain. However, there was one aspect of the article that got my goat. She writes: "Even quite conscious eaters - bar those in the vegan lunatic fringe who refuse to kill head lice - often don't think about animal issues outside the food chain.
