When Marco Wentzel came through at the turn of the century, the Currie Cup was the be-all and end-all of South African rugby. In a World Cup year, the Currie Cup suffers from relegation syndrome, but it still remains an important tournament for the Sharks and for Wentzel in particular.In the twilight of his career, Wentzel finds himself back in the tournament and, in all likelihood, to continue in his role as captain.
