Athletes deserve better support

Wayde van Niekerk's 400m gold-medal winning performance at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing should go down as one of the greatest ever by a South African athlete. It made him the fourth-fastest man in history - the fastest not born in the US - and puts him only 0.3s off legend Michael Johnson's world record.
