Alleged VAT refund fraudsters appear in court

“They allegedly submitted 105 VAT returns of at least 19 entities with false statements to claim refunds.”And on Friday‚ the two men arrested for allegedly defrauding the South African Revenue Service (Sars) of almost R8-million will appear at the Johannesburg Magistrate Court.Spokesperson Sandile Memela said Sars enforcement officials accompanied South African Police Service members to raid premises in Johannesburg on Wednesday and “confiscated 15 computers and passports”.
