R7 million recovered at King Shaka International Airport

The South African Revenue Service (Sars) on Tuesday announced that King Shaka International Airport recorded its largest currency bust for the year so far at the weekend. Its customs officials “intercepted a consignment of currency worth R7 million” after a baggage handler had become “suspicious when three suitcases scheduled for loading at the departing Emirates flight to Amman via Dubai were being removed from the international arrivals hall”.
