Eastern Cape is a sick province

The Eastern Cape has more than 30000 public servants who are being paid their salaries while they are at home on prolonged sick leave, with some having stayed off work for over six years.Premier Phumulo Masualle instructed all MECs yesterday to submit reports to him on the matter by March 15.According to provincial spokesman Sizwe Kupelo, Masualle planned to establish a task team to investigate the "irregular and suspiciously fraudulent" sick leave in the provincial government system.
