South African based Muslim cleric freed in Egypt after over a year in detention

Sheikh Abdus Salaam Bassiouni‚ an Egyptian born cleric resident in South Africa for 25 years‚ was released from a Cairo jail in the early hours of Tuesday morning‚ family and friends have confirmed.Bassiouni has been detained without charge in Egypt since December 2014.He travelled to Egypt with his family to attend his daughter Al-Zahra’s engagement.
