Democracy needs a free and unfettered public broadcaster

The problem with gate-keepers is they tend to overdo their tasks and think of themselves as the only solution to their masters' demands.We see this kind of behaviour especially in institutions that rely on government patronage.As the man in charge of the public broadcaster that is slowly changing into a state broadcaster, SABC chief operating officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng is overreaching and is now embarrassing even his handlers.
