Station hotel plans likely to get city council go-ahead

Railway hotels once dotted South Africa and the idea is to be revived in Cape Town city centre. City council officials have recommended that a plan for a 120-room hotel at Cape Town station be approved when councillors consider it next week.The development, which includes shops and offices, will go up on vacant land owned by the Passenger Rail Authority of SA bounded by Strand and Adderley streets and Old Marine Drive.
