In recent days, we celebrated Women’s Month and with that, people seemed to behave and whispered sweet nothings about how amazing women are and the importance of women empowerment.

But … the truth is that most of those people were just hiding behind borrowed robes, addicted to power manipulation.

The first person to be attacked by this addiction is my newly found superhero, Thuli Madonsela.

Madonsela came into “harm’s way” for doing something she was appointed for - her job.

In the back of my head, I was waiting for the “power puff women” aka ANCWL to come to her rescue, but instead they hid away like the “heroes” they claim to be and did nothing but watch.

Deep in my heart I was hoping that this Madonsela’s vigilance would serve as an eye opener to other women.

It has only shown the other side that we, as women really think little of each other and don’t really have each other’s backs as we claim to.

While Thuli was trying to do her job, Jessie Duarte; a well-known Marionette of Gwede Mantashe went out spiting venom with a torrent of mud-throwing of words towards the Public Protector.

She was the cheerleader of team “bring Thuli down", trying to make her seem incompetent. Fortunately, as we know in all superhero comics, you can never destroy true power with a cheap imitation of it.

In another scenario or rather different time-zone, something of the same devastating effect took place - the leaking of female public icons’ nude pictures.

This phenomenon went viral and spread like a bad case of flu.

A part of me feels like the victims should have done more tor protect themselves, but then I realise that no woman should ever have to live in fear of having her “crown jewels” exposed on social networks or the fear of having her privacy invaded, nor the thought of a jealous ex-boyfriend who can’t stand the thought of her being happy. Some people just don’t know how to “let it go”.

There is something sad about people who feel the need to lash out or destroy people who do their work with integrity and honesty. It is as if they feel happy at the expense of those who find themselves in this apprehensive situation like Madonsela and others.

So my parting words to the Thuli Madonsela’s, Jennifer Lawrence and Jill Scotts’ of this world, unfortunate and weak people will always feel the need to bring you to their level.

Do not allow them satisfaction of making you feel any less worthy of what or who you are.

If you are going to take nude photos hide your face, so that you can use the ‘those photos are fake line’ *wink*

Lastly, keep being one of those people who choose to follow the road lesser travelled and create their own path. The world may try to diminish your light, but if you remember who you and what your purpose is, nothing and no one can ever take that away from you.
