Mampara of the Week: Fikile Xasa

Sunday Times | 05 February, 2012 01:15

Where does one start?

YOUR province is in financial meltdown. There is a total lack of accountability. The national government has taken over your education department. The auditor-general is freaked out by your fiscal management.

What do you do? If you are the speaker of the Eastern Cape legislature, you send members of the provincial legislature on a two-day workshop on "emotional intelligence" at the Mpekweni Beach Resort in Port Alfred.

Then you brag about it in a statement, saying it provided them with "mental readiness to deal with stressful situations".

More: "Members felt highly emotionally intelligent after the training and ready to respond to their demanding duties."

What was taxpayers' money spent on? "Self-awareness, self-management, identifying and managing the emotions of others ..."

Maybe if you mamparas stopped abusing the hard-earned money of your constituents, they wouldn't have all those anger issues?
