IT is time that Sifiso Zulu, the self-styled prince, goes to jail. In March 2008 Zulu skipped a red light and crashed his BMW X5 into a bakkie, killing two church members.

Like a true mampara, he has never owned up to his actions, nor has he shown remorse. First he tried the Shaggy defence. "It wasn't me," he repeated. It didn't work.

He's tried to duck down various legal alleys - appealing against his conviction and sentence, applying to extend his bail and trying the Bees Roux option. Roux beat a traffic cop to death, got a suspended sentence, was not convicted of a violent offence on condition he paid the cop's widow R750k blood money. Yep, sometimes the law is an ass.

In this case the law got it right.

Zulu was (again) due to begin his three- year prison sentence yesterday, after his latest appeal was rejected. He may fear that the 26s and 28s prison gangs are short a mampara. But it's time to man up, princess.
