Parents must take responsibility

Sandile | 12 January, 2010 22:550 Comments

Sandile: As responsible parents we hold the key to our children's success.

We cannot, in my opinion, sit idly and expect the government or private school teachers to do that for us (''Big school is a big problem", January 11).

Raising a successful matriculant is a combined effort of teacher and parent.

How many parents attend parent-teacher meetings? How many go to their children's school and inquire about their progress, or is that a teacher's or principal's problem?

We cannot watch our children play PlayStation and go partying the whole year and expect them to do well in year-end exams.
