Madiba did not fight for this

Wuest Mosime, Botshabelo | 25 July, 2010 00:000 Comments

Wuest Mosime: I am disappointed by those who are sparking xenophobic attacks again.

After South Africa hosted a successful World Cup, where everyone felt safe and welcome, I never thought this kind of thing would happen again. Who will forget when Africa stood together and rallied behind Ghana, embracing the spirit of ubuntu and Africanism.

People are trying to glorify xenophobia by saying foreign nationals are criminals. Some even blame them for taking South Africans' jobs. What about those who are here legally? What are about those who are studying and those who created employment? It's inhuman and barbaric to treat one another like that. And it's a fact that this democracy, which gave us rights, is something we got through the help of our fellow African countries.

To all the perpetrators, shame on you. I wish to see the law deal with you. You're an embarrassment to us and what Madiba fought for. I say no to xenophobia.
