Brian Pittman: Referring to Jonathan Levin's letter about Zapiro's cartoon "Good deeds on Mandela Day" (July 25), I must agree with his sentiments regarding respect for Nelson Mandela - but I must respond to his attack on Zapiro.

Zapiro is not only a brilliant cartoonist but has the amazing ability to depict the doings of public figures.

Pieter-Dirk Uys (Evita Bezuidenhout) does much the same on stage.

Madiba had a dream of freedom and Zapiro is highlighting everything that is preventing that dream from coming true.

Somebody who is depicting exactly what is going on is not a prophet of doombut a realist - and to take it on yourself to tell Zapiro to b***** off to a foreign land is not becoming of you.
