Impatience will kill you
Richard, by e-mail: The accident at the railway crossing near Cape Town that claimed the lives of nine schoolchildren has angered me (again), but I am not surprised. I used to use that crossing twice a day and, because it has half-booms across the road, impatient drivers weave through them.
Often, while waiting in a queue for an oncoming train, drivers from both directions would jump the queue and weave through the booms.
I hope this is a wake-up call to all those stupid drivers who try to save a few minutes.
