Rather slam the fat-cat ministers
Anonymous, I am saddened by Zapiro's cartoon of August 22.
I do not support outbreaks of violence among the strikers. But I believe that focusing on the shocking behaviour of some strikers distracts the public from the real issues involved.
It would have been better if the cartoon had shown teachers and nurses on appalling wages being passed by ministers in Mercs (after all, these "tools of our trade", as Baloyi said, were the custom even under apartheid) on their way to swanky hotels, saying they cannot understand "these people".
Is the press flailing and kowtowing under the appalling threat of the press bill?
