Send SARS to take the plunder back
John Carter, by e-mail: I have just had a heated argument with an ex-headmaster friend who supports the teachers' strike. I expressed disbelief that they should so compromise the futures of the children. He pointed out that the indignation is at the plunder of money by officials and government ministers, which has emptied the coffers that should be paying real workers adequately.
Our mutual conclusion was that as SARS has full details of all bank accounts it should be easy for a hunt-and-recovery of funds to locate funds with which to pay the workers. Recovery of the ill-gotten gains from padded tenders and mining scams should also be relatively easy.
