ANC to turn focus on values as centenary approaches

Sapa | 24 June, 2011 11:4017 Comments

The ANC will focus on the values of the generation of party members who had passed on as it turns 100 in 2012, chair Baleka Mbete said on Friday.

"Part of what's going to be continuous engagement... is the history of the ANC, a focus on its values, the values we need to learn from this generation that are going," she told media at Lilliesleaf Farm in Rivonia, Johannesburg.

"Their discipline, their respect, their commitment... In the study of these individuals, we learn lessons."

In the past month, the party lost two key players in the struggle against apartheid: Albertina Sisulu and Kader Asmal.

Sisulu died while watching television in her Linden home at 92 and Asmal died in hospital on Wednesday. He was 76.

The ANC's centenary celebrations begin in July at Constitution Hill, with the high point, the party's birthday weekend, on January 8 2012.

Heads of state from across the continent and the globe were likely to attend the celebrations in Mangaung, Free State.

Events would take place throughout the year, culminating in the ANC's elective conference, also in Mangaung at the end of the year.

"The celebration of 100 years is about the journey of the people of South Africa fighting to emancipate themselves," Mbete said.

"We think this is a time for South Africa to talk about itself, its own history."

The centenary celebrations would help the ANC map out its vision for the country in the next 100 years.

This vision would be mapped out at the culmination of centenary activities -- the elective conference.

The conference, aside from electing new leadership, would make key policy decisions on South Africa's political and economic trajectory.

A decision on nationalisation of the mines -- as called for by the ANC Youth League -- and other policy decisions would be taken at the gathering.

How about you go do some work, help a charity, give food to the hungry children, to honour the struggle heroes of old.

Using the the word "VALUE" and the ANC in the same sentence is CRIMINAL!!!!

Value is NOT a ZULU, PEDI or XHOZA word!

Only 'value' the ANC have, is "HOW MUCH IS INNIT FOR ME?"

ANC of today is NOTHING like the ANC of 1994..... they are nothing other than a BUNCH OF THIEVES in 2011...acting like they are ROYALTY....and the PUBLIC are there to FEAR them!!!!

SAD!

The ANC should focus on the basic foundation i.e. the family, and why so many children are brought up by the mother when the father wants no responsibility. Good citizenship starts at home, and then is nurtured at schools, where the teachers do not turn up to work (why should they, they still get paid) and the kids must learn that 50% is a passing grade, and not 33 %.

The ANC have got the manners, morals and values of the jungle. Every man for himself. No one joins the ANC to stay poor or serve the poor but to get rich and screw the poor.

The ANC of today cannot have the morals and values of the ANC of old. It is like two worlds apart. Can you imagine Malema. being anything like Pixley ka Isaka Seme or even Mandela?

What they will do is try to fool everyone that they follow the manners, morals, values and integrity of the old.

We need quality education in South Africa. With out it we are doomed. Very few wealthy blacks owe there wealth to education. But to politics, sports, AA, BEE and criminal activities.

That is why education is not respected or of vital importance to our herd boys, garden boys and ex maids that are so called running or more correctly ruining the country.

When the Afrikaner was advantaged by AA principles, after taking over from the English, they were predominately focused on education not on hand outs and lift ups to stupid ignorant people. Quality university education was the way to lift them up out of abject poverty.

So what do the ANC do: dumb down education, introduce a out comes based education. So instead of a nation of Scientists, Doctors, Professors, Researchers, Engineers, we have a nation of unemployable idiots who have maths literacy.

The ANC under Zuma has become the party of bashes and parties, corruption, and poor service delivery. His inflated cabinet was formed to squander the states' money with no delivery to equal its size. His presidency is more concerned about what the ANC want than what the state and the people he (the President) swore in front of millions of people to serve. I guess I know now why the majority of the Polokwane crowd disliked Mbeki. He honoured his commitment to the state and its people, i.e. 'he put the country before the ANC', apparently swear words to the Polokwane lot.

Go ahead and celebrate the poor service delivery and corruption. The people shall wake up one day.

The PRESENT ANC is a gang of thugs.
They have NO morals, NO integrity, NO responsibility, NO honesty what so ever.
The Old Guard, like Kadar, that believed in the cause of the ANC, are deliberately kept
in the background and when they die, are Matryrs of the Struggle.
The present ANC mongrells are like a pack of rabid dawgs at a carcass and they want to
become clean and tidy????
WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER.
DIE, MY BELOVED COUNTRY, FOR THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR YOUR FREEDOM, DID SO IN VAIN.

Your only commitment to value is "How much value can I get out of the tax payers money?" You all steal and your ANC forefathers are turning in their graves. You do little or nothing for the poor. Corruption have become your norm and your VALUE!
