Cabinet sticks to AU road map on Libya
Colonel Muammar Gaddafi and President Jacob Zuma
The cabinet has reconfirmed South Africa's commitment to the African Union road map as the best option to resolve the conflict in Libya, says government spokesman Jimmy Manyi.
"Furthermore, cabinet is of the firm view that the road map should lead to an inclusive interim government," he told a media briefing on Thursday following the cabinet's regular Wednesday fortnightly meeting.
South Africa would work with the Southern African Development Community structures and other multilateral formations to eventually culminate in an urgent high-level AU meeting, he said.
