Corruption cause for divisions: Vavi

The divisions between the ANC and its alliance partners are neither ideological nor political, but driven by "tenderpreneurship", Cosatu's general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi said.

“As long as the capitalist system is in place in our country, so will be the corruption," he said at a march in Polokwane, held to protest against corruption in the Limpopo government.

“It does not mean that corruption does not exist in conditions of socialism. In China at least four leaders of the communist party there got hanged, literally hanged, for being corrupt."

He said if China could find four leaders guilty of corruption, then South Africa could find more than 50 corrupt officials.

Vavi denied the march was aimed at weakening Limpopo premier Cassel Mathale's bid to be re-elected to the post by the African National Congress.

"This is not factional activity. This is a march against corruption. It is not a march against the ANC. We are not bullets who could be used by anyone in the country."

Vavi said what had happened to the South African woman who was executed in China on Monday for drug smuggling was against human rights, but sent a strong message to those who committed crime. "If you are found guilty, or even get sick on the eve of your prison term, you should account for the crime committed," he said.

Disgraced former national police commissioner Jackie Selebi took ill on Friday, December 2, after the Supreme Court of Appeal dismissed his bid to appeal his conviction on corruption charges, giving him 48 hours to report to jail.

Vavi is like a train which is not really going anywhere because all the steam goes into the whistle.

This might be true but at least the noise is pointing in the right direction.

... yet there is no indication that the train is about to depart from the station - or about its direction... :)

“As long as the capitalist system is in place in our country, so will be the corruption," he (Vavi) said at a march in Polokwane, . . .

Again and again I say it – CORRUPTION HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CAPITALISM.
Mr. Vavi, you do not have a clue what capitalism stands for.
A quick definition of Capitalism is that all the property is in private hands (not state hands - socialism.)

The reason you keep saying that the problem is Capitalism, is so that you are trying to give the capitalistic approach a bad name - instead you just keep showing your ignorance.

I will supply some recommended reading for you if it will help?

Hau, Vavi!

Capitalism is NOT the problem - it's your thieving, dishonest, corrupt, self-serving, lazy, useless, nepotistic and venal friends at..........THE ANC (AKA Government).

Its the fake unity and alliance that leads to corruption. All fake unity behind the weak, to gain access to the taxpayer's sweat, then pay themselves before the others back up their own weak.

Every capitalist, trade unionist, communist utterances are now made with an eye fixed on the political power. There lies the source of corruption. Even strikes are mounted to propel unknown individuals to state coffers.

@m1si2zi3 etc

I am not sure if I will back up everything you say, but this time you are quite right.

When will our politicians get the message that they become "SERVANTS OF THE PEOPLE?"

This time Mr. Vavi got it wrong on capitalism and corruption! I think this is a misquote. Please, sir, say it again and I will be convinced that you really need education on both capitalism and corruption.
