Cyril Ramaphosa, chairman of the ANC disciplinary committee of appeal, was stern in delivering the verdict on the ANC Youth League's appeal at the weekend.

Reading the 14-page, hour-long statement, Ramaphosa used words such as "absurd, ridiculous and naive" to drive his message home.

Among its arguments, the league had said it was an autonomous organisation, independent of the ANC.

In response, Ramaphosa said: "However, the present definition of 'autonomous' in the ANC constitution places an onus on the youth league to operate within the framework of the constitution and policies of the ANC.

"Consequently, the appellants' argument that the league could make and publicly communicate its policy, even if it transgressed ANC policy, is absurd."

The league had also argued that members of the national disciplinary committee and ANC secretary- general Gwede Mantashe were biased because they communicated among themselves and issued media statements during the disciplinary process.

Ramaphosa said: "The appellants' argument that members of the NDC should, during the performance of their duties, have no contact with other members of the ANC is absurd.

"The ANC is a vibrant political movement, which encourages constructive debate, and it is not unexpected for ANC members to hold different views.

"However, this does not automatically translate into bias or a perception of bias. Such a conclusion is unreasonable."

The league also argued that certain members of the NDC should have recused themselves because they were not impartial. Ramaphosa said this was "naive and absurd".

He dismissed as "ridiculous" arguments that Minister in the Presidency Collins Chabane should have recused himself because his position could mean he was biased.

The only task of a political party is to ensure dominance over citizens so that it can fleece them at will, using legal taxation - a legal violence. The task of every member is to ensure that he gets as high up in the list as possible, to secure a lucrative position in this dominance. Any threat to his position is met with the most vicious reaction. This means that his voice is never heard, as politics depends on it. The victory always belongs to the higher echelons of the party.

Any man with a strong character and who are able to operate individually should be able to survive such a setback and make a comeback, but malema have no such a backbone.

He could only make some noise with the backup of his followers and his entourage of armed guards.

My guess is that we have seen the end of the mouse !

This is dawn of the beginning of the end for the ANC, just like we all have anticipated. This is an organisation busy devouring itself; limb by limb. It will soon be a skeleton of its former self. Pride is the beginning of a fall and now one understand where the Youth League learns its disrespect; its mother body. Cyril did not leash his tongue when he was doing a recital of a decision clearly made out of anger and a desire to prove who is ‘bosses’. I did not expect objectivity from Cyril and et al as Cyril is a big Black capitalist and Julius’ ideas heralds a shakedown of his kingdom. They did not want to feel undermined and they’ll go to the extent of calling an appeal made in good faith absurd, naïve and ridiculous. I am just waiting for the next titanic clash in the ANC and I am sure it will be much more murderous than this one. The Great Architect of the Universe will never let a bunch of irresponsible cowards lead our country into desolation and poverty, power will change hands and must change hands.

In agreement with most of your text. The ANC is meerely papering the cracks, the problems are much bigger (and deeply entrenched) than Malema.

That's absurb and naive logic based on your wishful thinking Horus. Not even Shikota (Cope-ism), Holomisa (UDM), PAC, Mangosuthu (IFP) managed to cause a mere chip in the organisation because the founding principles are not based on individuals. Malema is not a thread that bind the ANC, but then off course you are who you are...you are forgiven.

The ANC-PF's idea of "Democracy" -- if my mob is bigger than your mob, then I control you!
