Only ANCYL can fire leadership: Malema

Only the ANC Youth League has the right to dismiss its leaders, its embattled leader Julius Malema told delegates at the league's three-day lekgotla in Pretoria on Friday.
"If the youth says we must step down and resign, we are prepared to step down."
To applause, Malema said the leadership had effectively been found guilty of abiding by the resolutions of the league's 24th congress held in 2011.
"The basic lesson we have learned is that of democratic centralisation... we are guilty of thinking."
He said if the ANC had the right to fire the league's leaders, then it should be appointing the leadership which, he pointed out, it did not.
"We did not commit anything wrong against the movement. The only thing we did was to speak about how the land must be restored to its original owners."
He also reiterated the call for the nationalisation of mines, banks, and "monopolistic" industries.
This call for nationalisation was in line with the ANC's Freedom Charter, according to which the country's resources should belong to everybody in the country, he said.
Malema also had a dig at attempts to stifle debate about succession within the ANC.
"The succession battle should be discussed without fear or favour. It should not be a taboo topic."
Malema received a rousing welcome from delegates when he arrived at the lekgotla.
He made a quiet entrance at the St George's conference centre in Pretoria. But as soon as he was on stage, delegates broke out into loud singing before his opening speech.
ANCYL deputy president Ronald Lamola introduced Malema as the "chief commander of the economic freedom fighters". The country's Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe was also expected to speak.
Delegates toyi-toyed and sang before the conference started. Some of the songs being sung were "Bloemfontein 2012, we are voting for Malema" and "The shower man is troubling us", a reference to President Jacob Zuma.
The event was Malema's first public appearance since the ANC announced last Saturday that his appeal against his five-year suspension from the ANC had been rejected.
He, however, remains a party member until arguments in mitigation of his sentence have been concluded.

Oh my dear friend! It is so good to see you here! Thank you for the wonderful compliments, you always know how to brighten my day :) How have you been?
I totally agree with you. President Malema will bounce back from this. The failing "oppositions" managed to bring President Malema in a bad light. But I am hopeful that that Government will realise the important role played by youth leaders in this country, and offer them more support, and definitely a stronger voice in the decision making process of our country.

Posted 106 days agoI am indeed back after a well-deserved world trip. The most fabulous holiday imaginable. Upon my return, unfortunately, my account here was no longer in working order due to my extended absence, hence the dreadful 2X.
But that aside, I am glad to see that you are supporting President Malema on this. It is a pity that he has been suspended, but this is only preparing him for national elections in 2014, which really has me very excited

Posted 106 days agoMalema was nt suspended for calling nationalisation and expropriation , thats the reason Cyril Ramaphosa dismissed their appeal as baseless and unfounded because they are missing the point instead of CRITICALLY arguing the charges they argue things nt on charge sheet.
As a youth Malema must explain to us where he gets money, he must share that experience with us as so called leader, why he is sharing that experience with his cousin Tsepo Malema , whereas he tells us to much to Pta from JHb.

Posted 105 days agoYou must be kidding me in thinking that 50% of the branches would give their votes to the ANCYL candidate who is going to further Malema agenda. Whoever shall become a Malema sponsored candidate (such as Tokyo, a failed premier and a capitalist) and cannot fight his or her own election battles is doomed. You need a candidate that is not tainted and can run the gauntlet against Zuma who seem to know how to wage a fight. Malema has badly calculated his fortunes just as he miscalculated his chances with the NDC and the NDCA. The ANC is far bigger than his alter ego and it's very cold outside the ANC. Malema also faces tenderprenuer charges that will land him in great poverty for a man used to finer indulgencies of capitalism. He will freeze into poverty let alone mobilise members in good standing to give their votes to a member not in good standing.

I know right! If it depends on these "oppositions" constantly trying to bring down the ONLY youth league in the country, as well as its leaders, it will be a tough battle to get President Malema to national elections. But so far campaigns are going well, and we are all hopeful.
Now I am smiling that you mentioned Zodwa :) My dear friend. A true-blooded South African leader! I hope she still uses Times Live, I haven't been around lately, been traveling the world, so haven't had contact with her.

My dearest Sweetness,
You can't be a presidential candidate when in yellow/orange garb with ankle restrictions to limit your spontaneous leg movements.
Unless, Sweetie, you have an alternative solution.

Posted 105 days agoWe as the youth of the ANC and South Africa will stand by Malema and ANCYL, we are leaving in shacks while minority is still leaving comfortably and just by the way is this not a reality comrade Zuma and Mantashe if it is not then ANC should cease to exist as it has achieve its objective of equal distribution of wealth!
We will support robust call by ANCYL for economic freedom in our lifetime IT’S THE ONLY WAY!
Comrades let us not be scared or be intimidated lets continue support our leaders until victory is certain otherwise our beloved ANCYL will be a puppet league dancing to the tunes of Tom and Harry!
VIVA ANCYL VIVA, VIVA Comrade Malema Viva. Long Leave the ANCYL Leave
THE STRUGGLE CONTINUES!
