Northern Cape premier Hazel Jenkins has been rushed to hospital after collapsing while delivering her state of the province address in the legislature.
DA member of the National Council of Provinces Willem Faber says she’d started talking about the Square Kilometre Array project when she appeared to lose her place and fell over.
He says everyone rushed to help, the speaker asked for calm and emergency personnel arrived.
He says the premier was placed in an ambulance and taken to hospital.
Jenkins is a member of the ANC and took up the post in 2009.
