ANC instilling fear, not discipline: Malema

Some ANC leaders are establishing fear and intimidation in the party and are not trying to maintain discipline, expelled ANC Youth League president Julius Malema said on Wednesday.

"They intimidate everybody," Malema told ANCYL members at a regional meeting of the Friends of the Youth League in Bloemfontein.

Malema criticised the leadership of ANC President Jacob Zuma and other national party leaders during the meeting.

He said that while he had spoken the same language as Zuma on issues such as land grabs by early Boers -- although not in Zulu as Zuma had -- it was him who had been charged with poor discipline.

He also criticised Zuma of not understanding the ANCYL because he was never a youth league member.

Malema described Zuma’s delivery of the Nelson Mandela centenary lecture in Shayandima, Limpopo, this week as poor and flat, without "a level of energy and excitement a speech on Mandela deserved".

Malema vowed that he would never abandon the ANC and would never be scared of the ruling party.

He said it was individuals in the ANC who were destroying the party.

He told the rally that a terrible mistake had happened in Polokwane, where Zuma was elected as ANC president, and that it should not be repeated.

Referring to the recent Free State ANC conference in Parys, at which long-standing provincial chairman Ace Magashule was re-elected, Malema said the youth should not expect factionists to know how the ANC worked.

He said real ANC politicians would have worked for more unity within the province before the conference.

Malema described the Free State ANC as a vehicle without an engine after its Parys conference, which had not been attended by the provincial youth league leadership or by its former provincial secretary Sibongile Besani and treasurer Mxolisi Dukwana.

He warned that the ANC was like the ocean, which cleaned itself of its rubbish.

He urged the local youth not to abandon the ANC or it would not be able to clean itself, and that this would hopefully start at the party’s elective conference in Mangaung at the end of the year.

Really now Julius, anybody who still takes this guy seriously needs their head examined. Amazing how his tone has taken a 360 from previous Zuma support statements, this guy is exactly what is wrong with SA politics. Just because you have a mouth does not qualify you to say anything worth listening to.

"... taken a 360 turn from pervious..."
Oh, well south africa is full of such people. Consider the situation of many white south africans. Most of them supported the NATS during the heydays of apartheid, and today none of them claim to have ever known or associated themselves with the regime. Talk of a 360 turn. Could it be that they think they are the only people cable of change??? I think if the likes of de klerk etc can all of a sudden 'see the light', then everybodu including Juju can...

Should'nt this fly-by-night politician be familiarising himself with farming practises? He should be reading and commenting on Farmers Weekly magazine and also a local Farmers Union or Stock (not JSE) OWNERS Assn.

Lekker boer, seuntjie!
