The ANC NEC lekgotla was scrutinising the state of education in the country, spokesman Jackson Mthembu said.

"We have had inputs on education earlier, particularly regarding Limpopo and the rest of the country."

The three-day lekgotla of the African National Congress national executive committee began on Friday in Pretoria.

The members broke into commissions after lunch to discuss issues tabled in the morning.

The lekgotla would also review their successes and failures, and what should be prioritised in the next 12 months, Mthembu said.
