'No distinction' between Malema, Zille: Manamela

Sapa | 26 August, 2012 13:29
There was a time when Young Communist League national secretary Buti Manamela and Julius Malema would share a joke. Now the two can't stand each other.

There is no distinction between expelled ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema and DA leader Helen Zille, YCLSA secretary general Buti Manamela said on Sunday.

"There is no distinction between the two, much as Floyd Shivambu (suspended ANCYL spokesman) is actually the same as Lindiwe Mazibuko (DA Parliamentary leader)."

Manamela was speaking at a Young Communist League of SA public lecture held in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni.

Also present were ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe and Cosatu president Sdumo Dlamini.

Manamela said the "so-called" Friends of the ANCYL was nothing but another political party. The organisation was "as bad" as the DA, he said.

"The so-called friends of the ANCYL is to us a new political party. It is as bad as the DA. A member of the YCLSA cannot associate themselves with them."

Mantashe and Dlamini were expected to speak at the event.
