Hundreds of blue-shirt clad Democratic Alliance leaders gathered in Cape Town on Saturday morning ahead of voting in a new set of provincial party leaders.

Party members danced and sang at the international convention centre, while handing out pamphlets punting their preferred candidates.

At least 864 people were in attendance, with around 200 members still on their way.

The party would vote in a provincial leader, deputy leader, chairperson, three deputy chairs, four additional provincial executive committee members and a chair of finance.

Provincial social development and sport MEC Ivan Meyer was standing uncontested for the provincial leadership position.

Western Cape health MEC Theuns Botha was the sole nominee for deputy provincial leader, as was local government MEC Anton Bredell for provincial chairperson.

Ten people were contesting the position of deputy chair.

Four were contesting the finance chair position.

Voting would wrap up by 11am and the results announced around 4pm.
